As a CPA and a CFP® professional, Josh uses his 28 years of extensive knowledge of taxes and comprehensive financial planning to help clients. Josh was a partner in two firms in Atlanta before moving to Southport, NC where he began Joshua J. Podczervinski, CPA, P.C. Josh is a proud veteran and graduated from North Carolina State University with honors with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. Josh has served on several boards including NATP, Rotary and Jaycees. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf and fishing.

Laura Podczervinski serves as the firm administrator. She handles internal accounting, IT, HR and internal processes as well as being responsible for client payroll. She worked previously for 18 years as an HR Manager for UPS Headquarters in Atlanta, GA. She enjoys spending time with her family, living at the beach and playing with her dog affectionately named Baxter "the Tax Master".

Nora “Ruth” Rushing is a CPA with more than 30 years of experience in both public and private accounting sector. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Francis Marion University and began her career with Ernst & Young. She has been an integral part of our firm since its beginning in 2021. Ruth brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and dedication to her work, and we are fortunate to have her expertise as part of our team.

Joseph Sparks is a Tax Supervisor with nearly 10 years of experience in public accounting. He specializes in individual and business tax preparation, tax planning, financial statement preparation, and helping clients make informed financial decisions. Joseph enjoys building strong relationships with clients and providing practical, personalized solutions to their tax and accounting needs. Joseph earned his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Georgia Southern University. His attention to detail, tax knowledge, and commitment to client service make him a valued member of the firm’s tax team.

Raymond Nieves is a seasoned tax and accounting professional with more than 20 years of experience in tax compliance, bookkeeping, financial reporting, and accounting operations. As Bookkeeping and Tax Supervisor, Raymond oversees tax and bookkeeping services while providing clients with knowledgeable, responsive support. His experience includes individual, business, estate and trust taxation, financial statements, and complex tax matters. He earned his Bachelor of Accounting, is an IRS Enrolled Agent and is a QuickBooks ProAdvisor.

Michelle joined the firm February 3, 2000 as an Administrative Assistant. She moved from Ohio to Southport in 2019 with her husband Chris. Michelle was a 911 Communications Coordinator for the Warren City Police Department for 15 years followed by 5 years as a Security Shift Manager for Hollywood Gaming Mahoning Valley Race Course. She has three sons, Michael, Caleb and DJ. She enjoys boating, shopping, traveling, cooking and spending time with her dog.

Dawnmarie brings more than 20 years of experience in business, relationship management, project coordination, and strategic planning. Known for her professionalism, organization, and strong communication skills, she has successfully supported complex initiatives, collaborated with cross-functional teams, and built trusted relationships with executives and clients. Her results-driven approach, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities make her a valuable addition to our team. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Special Education from Molloy University.

Sylvia Swisher joined the firm in May of 2022 and brings extensive experience in bookkeeping, accounting, and business operations, with a strong background in managing day-to-day financial activities. Her expertise includes accounts payable and receivable, bank and account reconciliations, journal entries, deposits, and QuickBooks. Sylvia also brings valuable experience as a previous business owner, giving her a practical understanding of the financial needs and challenges small businesses face. Sylvia holds an Associate in Science degree in Computer Science and Accounting.

Stephanie Creech brings more than a decade of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, and financial operations. Her expertise includes financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, budgeting, and general ledger management. Stephanie is known for her attention to detail, organization, and commitment to helping clients maintain accurate, timely financial records. She takes pride in providing responsive, dependable service and supporting clients in making informed financial decisions. Stephanie holds an Associate’s degree in Accounting.

Ana Francis-Melillo has worked in the accounting profession since 2003, building extensive experience in bookkeeping, payroll, and helping businesses maintain accurate financial records. She is dedicated to providing reliable, detail-oriented service while assisting clients with their day-to-day accounting needs. Ana earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting and is currently pursuing a Master of Taxation to further expand her expertise. Her commitment to continuing education reflects her passion for delivering knowledgeable, high-quality service to clients.
